Declaración de artista
Busco provocar reacciones a través de la interacción de los miedos, el amor y el humor. Todo lo que hago en mi vida es juego y provocación. No concibo el ejercicio de las artes creativas como algo serio, sino como una actividad lúdica que conecta la madurez con la niñez, constantemente. Jugar. Esa es la regla de mi vida y de mi arte. Siempre jugar, primero para divertirme; y, si tengo suerte, divertir a los demás.
¿Por qué monstruos?
Los Monstruos de Marco Colín representan nuestros miedos y nos invitan a superarlos sin dejar que influyan en nuestra vida diaria y en nuestras decisiones. Nos recuerdan constantemente que no hay nada a qué temerle; simbolizan el triunfo sobre la adversidad y nuestras victorias sobre el miedo. Cada pieza invita al espectador a estar constantemente preparado para enfrentar las dificultades, levantar la guardia ante los problemas y derrotarlos.
Sobre los tenangos bordados El universo creativo de Marco Colín contiene seres imaginarios como monstruos, fantasmas, gatos y calacas que reflejan su visión sobre los símbolos y el valor que les damos en nuestra cultura. A menudo los asocia y los contrasta entre sí para hacer un comentario lúdico e irónico sobre el valor que les damos a estas figuras y a sus significados. Para esta serie de bordados, Marco diseñó motivos ornamentales que abarcan monstruos, gatos, calacas e incluso cantantes de rock. Todos diseñados específicamente para el estilo de bordado de las artesanas de Tenango de Doria, Hidalgo.
